POETS AND PROPHETS

Dear Tahir Qazi

I am so glad you joined the discussion about POETS AND PROPHETS with your honest and thought stimulation question about the relationship between rationality and spirituality. I also enjoyed your attempt of killing two birds with one stone...(Humane Society who loves birds and animals may not be happy with this analogy, even the peace activists might thing it to be violent...smile) asking me and Farzana both....some pointed questions.

I cannot speak on behalf of Farzana but I will send you an article in which I tried to answer some of those questions. Being a poet, secular humanist and a psychotherapist I have been trying to build bridges between different disciplines.

Rather than getting into purely abstract and academic debates I like to share life experiences. (my personal as well as professional) and then build a philosophy based on those You are quite aware that it is not an easy task and there are no easy answers but I have made humble attempts and I am going to share one of those attempts. You may not agree with my conclusions but I hope you appreciate my genuine attempts to break down walls and build bridges. Your friendship has always been very valuable for me as it has nurtured a healthy dialogue that helped me clarify some issues in my mind. I think these friendships that we are developing are very precious and valuable as they are bringing out the best in us. I know Family of the Heart brings out the best in me. I hope it does the same for you.

I hope my responses are of some value to you and are not confusing you any further. Those of us who are not satisfied with simple answers and do not want to travel on the highways of tradition have to work harder on the trails of our hearts. Sincerely sohail

ps...I have invited Farzana if she would be willing to give me an interview. I want to extend the same invitation to you. Would you be willing to give an hour of precious time and share highlights of your philosophical journey for the website of Family of the Heart. I would love to interview you.
